This elevated french toast is composed of thick challah slices, generous schmears of peanut butter, tons of bananas, and a drizzle of honey. The bread is flavored with vanilla, nutmeg, and rum - feel free to leave out the rum if you're making it for kids!

Step preview

  1. Turn out bread slices onto a clean plate
  2. Spread with peanut butter evenly
  3. Top with banana
  4. Drizzle with honey
  5. Layer
  6. Add egg, heavy cream, vanilla extract, nutmeg, dark rum and kosher salt to a clean medium glass bowl
  7. Whisk until smooth - approx 1 min
  8. Add butter to a clean medium cast iron skillet
  9. Pre-heat - medium heat
  10. Dip bread into eggs
  11. Soak
  12. Place content of plate on medium cast iron skillet
  13. Cook each side until golden brown then set aside - approx 2 min
  14. Sprinkle with powdered sugar
  15. Drizzle with maple syrup
  16. Yum!
