Step preview

  1. Pre-heat - Sauté, Normal
  2. Add bacon to the inner pot
  3. Heat until crispy while stirring occasionally
  4. Remove to paper towel-lined plate
  5. Drain off all but 1 tablespoon of the drippings
  6. Add celery stalk, carrot and onion to the inner pot
  7. Cook until softened - 5 min
  8. Add garlic clove and dried thyme to the inner pot
  9. Cook - approx 1 min
  10. Add water and chicken broth to the inner pot
  11. Deglaze with a wooden spoon
  12. Add split peas, salt, black pepper and bay leaves to the inner pot
  13. Add half of bacon
  14. Mix well
  15. Close and lock the lid and turn the steam release handle to Sealing
  16. Pressure cook - Manual, High, 8 min
  17. Natural release - 10 min
  18. Quick release
  19. Stir soup; remove and discard bay leaf
  20. Garnish with remaining bacon
