Let’s face it, sometimes the slightly bitter Brussels sprout needs a little love to make it palatable to some. That’s where the smokiness of the bacon, the sweetness of the syrup and potato, and the bright citrus from the orange come into play. These flavors cut the bitterness from the sprouts and are a great addition to your gluten-free plate. I dare you to not love this side dish!

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat - Sauté, Normal
  2. Add bacon to the inner pot
  3. Cook while stirring frequently - 5 min
  4. Line a clean plate with paper towels
  5. Transfer bacon to plate and let cool
  6. Crumble
  7. Add red onion, sweet potato and brussels sprouts to the inner pot
  8. Cook while stirring frequently - 2 min
  9. Cancel - Sauté
  10. Transfer vegetables to steamer basket
  11. Add water to the inner pot
  12. Place steamer basket in the inner pot
  13. Close and lock the lid and turn the steam release handle to Sealing
  14. Pressure cook - Manual, High, 3 min
  15. Quick release
  16. Transfer vegetables to large serving bowl
  17. Toss with maple syrup, orange juice and hot sauce
  18. Garnish with bacon
  19. Top with fresh chives
  20. Serve warm
