These are very easy to make and comforting to eat! Add extra cayenne pepper and mature cheddar for extra flavour. Adapted from a BBC food recipe.

  • All purpose flour icon

    Method

  • 1. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  • 2. Add all purpose flour, salt, cayenne pepper and baking powder to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 3. Mix briefly until blended
  • 4. Add unsalted butter to the dough
  • 5. Rub in until coarse crumbs form
  • 6. Add cheddar cheese to the dough
  • 7. Mix briefly until just combined
  • 8. Add milk to the dough gradually while mixing
  • 9. Mix until dough forms
  • 10. Transfer dough to lightly floured surface
  • 11. Roll out
  • 12. Cut out
  • 13. Transfer scones to baking sheet
  • 14. Glaze milk with the baking sheet
  • 15. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese
  • 16. Bake - 10 min, 200°C
