The self-rising flour means no baking powder is needed. These are super fluffy.

  • Granulated sugar icon

  • Baking soda icon
    Baking soda¼ teaspoon
  • Butter icon
    Butter2 tablespoons
  • Buttermilk icon
    Buttermilk240 ml

    Method

  • 1. Add self raising flour, granulated sugar and baking soda to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 2. Mix well until completely mixed then set aside
  • 3. Add butter to a clean medium bowl
  • 4. Melt in microwave
  • 5. Add buttermilk to the medium bowl
  • 6. Warm in microwave
  • 7. Whisk together egg, melted butter and buttermilk
  • 8. Transfer wet ingredients to the flour mix
  • 9. Mix gently until mixture comes together
  • 10. Heat some oil in the frying pan
  • 11. Cook each pancake in frying pan until golden brown
