Step preview

  1. Prep and set aside onion: finely sliced
  2. Prep and set aside cheddar cheese: grated
  3. Get a clean large cast iron skillet
  4. Add butter
  5. Add olive oil
  6. Heat
  7. Add prepared onion
  8. Fry for approx 15min on medium heat until softened
  9. Stir in superfine sugar
  10. Fry for 10min
  11. Stir in all purpose flour
  12. Add beer
  13. Add beef stock
  14. Add bay leaves
  15. Add worcestershire sauce
  16. Add salt & pepper
  17. Boil
  18. Transfer content of large cast iron skillet to slow cooker bowl and cover
  19. Cook to slow cooker for approx 5h on low heat until soft
  20. Retrieve large cast iron skillet
  21. Add baguette
  22. Toast then set aside
  23. Sprinkle with prepared cheddar cheese
  24. Drizzle with worcestershire sauce
  25. Broil until melted
  26. Serve soup
