Step preview

  1. Add butter and olive oil to a clean large cast iron skillet
  2. Heat
  3. Add onion to the large cast iron skillet
  4. Fry until softened - approx 15 min, medium heat
  5. Stir in superfine sugar to the large cast iron skillet
  6. Fry - 10 min
  7. Stir in all purpose flour to the large cast iron skillet
  8. Add beer, beef stock, bay leaves, worcestershire sauce and salt & pepper to the large cast iron skillet
  9. Boil
  10. Transfer content of large cast iron skillet to slow cooker bowl and cover
  11. Cook in slow cooker until soft - approx 5 hr, low heat
  12. Add baguette to the large cast iron skillet
  13. Toast then set aside
  14. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese
  15. Drizzle with worcestershire sauce
  16. Broil until melted
  17. Serve soup
