Sausages and beans are a match made in heaven. Here they're slow-cooked with tomatoes and bell peppers to create a moreish stew that's best served with plenty of buttered toast for scooping up the sauce.

Step preview

  1. Prep and set aside onion: chopped
  2. Prep and set aside tomato: chopped
  3. Prep and set aside red bell pepper: cored, seeded & diced
  4. Prep and set aside frankfurter sausage: chilled & sliced
  5. Get a clean medium cast iron skillet
  6. Heat sunflower oil
  7. Add prepared onion
  8. Fry until softened - 5 min
  9. Stir in smoked paprika
  10. Cook - 1 min
  11. Add canned navy beans
  12. Mix in wholegrain mustard
  13. Add worcestershire sauce
  14. Mix in vegetable stock
  15. Boil
  16. Stir in prepared tomato
  17. Stir in prepared red bell pepper
  18. Stir in salt & pepper
  19. Get a clean slow cooker bowl
  20. Add prepared frankfurter sausage
  21. Transfer mixture to slow cooker bowl and cover
  22. Cook in slow cooker - 9 hr, low heat
  23. serve with bread slices
