Step preview

  1. Prep and set aside pork shoulder: cubed
  2. Prep and set aside leek: sliced
  3. Prep and set aside carrot: diced
  4. Get a clean medium cast iron skillet
  5. Add sunflower oil
  6. Heat - high heat
  7. Add prepared pork shoulder
  8. Fry until lightly browned - high heat
  9. Get a clean slow cooker bowl
  10. Transfer content of medium cast iron skillet to slow cooker bowl
  11. Get medium cast iron skillet
  12. Add prepared leek
  13. Fry until softened - 3 min
  14. Stir in all purpose flour
  15. Mix in cider gradually
  16. Mix in chicken stock gradually
  17. Add prepared carrot
  18. Add cored, diced apple
  19. Add salt & pepper
  20. Add fresh sage
  21. Boil while stirring occasionally
  22. Transfer content of medium cast iron skillet to slow cooker bowl and cover
  23. Cook in slow cooker until tender - 8 hr, low heat
  24. Get a clean small bowl
  25. Mix self raising flour
  26. Mix shortening
  27. Mix chopped fresh sage
  28. Mix chopped fresh parsley
  29. Mix salt & pepper
  30. Pour water gradually
  31. Mix with tablespoon until dough forms
  32. Cut into pieces
  33. Roll into balls
  34. Transfer dough balls to slow cooker bowl and cover
  35. Cook in slow cooker - 1 hr, low heat
  36. Serve
