Step preview

  1. Prep and set aside flank steak: cubed
  2. Prep and set aside onion: chopped
  3. Prep and set aside celery stalk: sliced
  4. Prep and set aside parsnip: peeled & chopped
  5. Pre-heat - 160°C
  6. Get a clean large mixing bowl
  7. Add all purpose flour
  8. Season with salt & pepper
  9. Add prepared flank steak
  10. Mix until coated
  11. Get a clean Dutch oven
  12. Melt butter
  13. Melt olive oil
  14. Transfer beef to Dutch oven
  15. Sear bit by bit until browned
  16. Add prepared onion
  17. Add prepared celery stalk
  18. Cook gently - 5 min
  19. Add fresh thyme
  20. Add bay leaves
  21. Add beer
  22. Add beef stock
  23. Mix in molasses
  24. Heat until boiling
  25. Cover and turn off heat
  26. Cook - 1 hr, 160°C
  27. Add prepared parsnip
  28. Cook until tender - 30 min, 160°C
  29. Season with salt & pepper
  30. Serve
