A rich and delicious stew made with lemongrass, star anise, cinnamon and ginger, served with rice noodles and lime. This recipe is transferred into a slow cooker and cooked on low-medium heat for 3-4 hours for perfect, tender beef.

  1. Prep and set aside lemongrass stalk: trimmed
  2. Prep and set aside flank steak: cubed
  3. Prep and set aside shallot: peeled & quartered
  4. Prep and set aside carrot: peeled & cubed
  5. Prep and set aside scallion: sliced
  6. Fit the TM5 bowl to TM5
  7. Add prepared lemongrass stalk
  8. Add garlic clove
  9. Add kaffir lime leaves
  10. Add ginger
  11. Add fresh chili
  12. Add extra virgin olive oil
  13. Blend for approx 20s
  14. Sauté for approx 5min
  15. Add water
  16. Add coconut sugar
  17. Add fish sauce
  18. Add tamari
  19. Add cinnamon stick
  20. Add star anise pod
  21. Cook for approx 5min
  22. Prepare a clean work surface
  23. Add prepared flank steak
  24. Season with salt & pepper
  25. Transfer meat to slow cooker bowl
  26. Transfer sauce to slow cooker bowl
  27. Cook for 3h on low heat
  28. Get slow cooker bowl
  29. Add prepared shallot
  30. Add prepared carrot
  31. Cook for 1h on low heat
  32. Get a clean small bowl
  33. Add rice noodles
  34. Add boiling water
  35. Soak until just cooked and strain
  36. Divide noodles between 6 large serving bowls
  37. Divide stew between 6 large serving bowls
  38. Arrange prepared scallion
  39. Arrange lime
  40. Serve
