When you picture apple cake, it's usually a sliced apple pie or a sturdy carrot cake-like loaf. This super moist cake uses homemade applesauce for an incredibly tender finish, gently spiced with cinnamon and ginger. The frosting may be my favorite part of the whole cake, adding sweetness without being overpowering. This one-bowl recipe is suitable for newbie and experienced bakers alike.

  1. Prep and set aside egg: beaten
  2. Pre-heat - 180°C
  3. Line in cake tin then set aside
  4. Grease
  5. Get a clean large mixing bowl
  6. Add sifted all purpose flour
  7. Add ground cinnamon
  8. Add ground ginger
  9. Add kosher salt
  10. Add baking soda
  11. Mix gently until combined and continue
  12. Add prepared egg
  13. Add granulated sugar
  14. Add buttermilk
  15. Add applesauce
  16. Add canola oil
  17. Whisk gently until combined then scrape bowl
  18. Whisk carefully until completely mixed
  19. Transfer content of large mixing bowl to springform pan
  20. Bake - 55 min, 180°C
  21. Get
  22. Add cream cheese
  23. Add sour cream
  24. Add maple syrup
  25. Blend vigorously until smooth
  26. Remove
  27. Let cool on round wire rack
  28. Remove
  29. Frost generously
  30. Serve
