These delicious crispy, crunchy and spicy roasted chickpeas are a great way to use up those cans of chickpeas that have been lurking in the back of your cupboard. They're also a great alternative to crisps and popcorn when you're craving a savoury snack. These can be made with any mix of herbs and spices, play around with your favourite flavours. These are spicy, reduce the amount of pepper and cayenne if you’re not a spice fan.

Step preview

  1. Prep and set aside canned chickpeas: canned & rinsed
  2. Pre-heat - 200°C
  3. Prepare a clean work surface with paper towels
  4. Add prepared canned chickpeas
  5. Pat dry completely with paper towels
  6. Transfer beans to large mixing bowl
  7. Add olive oil
  8. Toss until coated
  9. Transfer beans to baking sheet
  10. Spread evenly
  11. Roast - 25 min
  12. Transfer content of baking sheet to large serving bowl
  13. Add olive oil
  14. Add black pepper
  15. Add salt
  16. Add cayenne pepper
  17. Mix until coated
  18. Serve immediately
