A quick and basic Australian bread, traditionally baked on damped down campfire embers (hence the name!).

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 190°C
  2. Add all purpose flour, baking powder and salt to a clean large mixing bowl
  3. Whisk together until combined
  4. Rub in salted butter the dough
  5. Add milk to the dough
  6. Mix until dough forms
  7. Shape into a ball
  8. Transfer dough to large cast iron skillet
  9. Flatten gently
  10. Slice large mixing bowl
  11. Brush with milk
  12. Bake - 30 min, 190°C
  13. Serve
