Use red cabbage and onion skins to make these natural blue and orange-yellow dyes. Soak for 30 minutes for pale pastels and up to a few hours for darker colors.

  • 1. Add red cabbage, water and white vinegar to a clean large saucepan
  • 2. Boil - 30 min
  • 3. Strain with sieve and set aside
  • 4. Add onion, white vinegar and water to a clean large saucepan
  • 5. Boil - 30 min
  • 6. Strain with sieve and set aside
  • 7. Bring eggs and water to boil in a large saucepan
  • 8. Simmer - 12 min for hard boiled eggs
  • 9. Rinse eggs until cool and place them in each saucepan
  • 10. Set aside large saucepan in fridge - 30 min
  • 11. Remove from containers
