This basic white loaf has a lovely crisp crust. Bake in a rustic round, or divide dough into 2 loaf pans for square slices. Requires leavening for 8 hours or overnight.

  1. Get a clean large mixing bowl
  2. Add bread flour
  3. Add active dried yeast
  4. Add warm water
  5. Mix well and cover
  6. Let rest for approx 8h
  7. Retrieve large mixing bowl

  11. Add bread flour
  12. Add salt
  13. Knead for 10min with dough hook until elastic
  14. Grease a large mixing bowl
  15. Transfer dough to large mixing bowl
  16. Cover with plastic wrap
  17. Let rise for 1h 30min until doubled
  18. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  19. Turn out dough on lightly-floured surface
  20. Shape into a ball
  21. Transfer dough to baking sheet
  22. Cover with plastic wrap for 1h until doubled
  23. Pre-heat
  24. Cut
  25. Bake for 20min
  26. Reduce
  27. Bake for 10min until hollow-sounding when tapped
  28. Let cool
