This French Onion Soup can be made in a Kenwood kCook Multi in less than half an hour. It's a lot faster than the traditional slow-cooked version, but it's still incredibly tasty. We used beef stock in ours, but for a vegetarian version, replace with vegetable stock. A sprinkle of gruyere on top wouldn't hurt either!

  1. Prep and set aside garlic clove: peeled
  2. Prep and set aside onion: peeled & quartered
  3. Prep and set aside fresh thyme: destalked
  4. Fit thick slicing disc (5) to direct prep attachment
  5. Fit direct prep attachment to kCook Multi
  6. Fit stir tool to kCook bowl
  7. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  8. Add olive oil
  9. Turn direct prep attachment to position 1
  10. Slice prepared garlic clove with direct prep attachment
  11. Slice prepared onion with direct prep attachment
  12. Turn direct prep attachment to position 2
  13. Add sugar
  14. Add butter
  15. Attach lid to kCook bowl with filler cap fitted
  16. Cook with filler cap fitted - 15 min, 140°C, speed 2
  17. Add brandy
  18. Add beef stock
  19. Add prepared fresh thyme
  20. Add salt & pepper
  21. Add cornflour to a small bowl
  22. Add water
  23. Mix until smooth
  24. Transfer content of small bowl to kCook bowl
  25. Cook with filler cap fitted - 2 min, 98°C, speed 2
  26. Top with rustic french bread
