Tangy orange sugar cookies, speckled with poppy seeds, and dipped in creamy white chocolate.
- All purpose flour
310 g (about 2 ½ cups)
- Salt
½ teaspoon (about 3 g)
- Baking soda
¼ teaspoon (about 1 g)
- Cornstarch
30 g (about 3 ¾ tablespoons)
- Poppy seeds
1 tablespoon (about 9 g)
- Orange zest
1 tablespoon (about 11 g)
- Unsalted butter
¾ cup (about 173 g)
- Powdered sugar
125 g (about 1 cup)
- Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon (about 5 ml)
- Orange extract
1 teaspoon (about 5 g)
- Egg
1 (about 50 g)
- Egg yolk
1 (about 20 g)
- White chocolate
340 g (about 2 cups)
INGREDIENTS
- 1. Add all purpose flour, salt, baking soda, cornstarch, poppy seeds and orange zest to a clean medium bowl
- 2. Mix until combined
- 3. Add unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and orange extract to a clean large mixing bowl
- 4. Beat together until smooth
- 5. Add egg and egg yolk to a clean small bowl
- 6. Transfer eggs to the mixture
- 7. Mix until well combined
- 8. Add dry ingredients to the mixture gradually and mix until combined
- 9. Shape dough into a ball
- 10. Wrap with plastic wrap
- 11. Chill in fridge - 3 hr
- 12. Pre-heat oven - 175°C
- 13. Line a clean baking sheet with parchment paper
- 14. Roll out dough until 1/4" thick
- 15. Cut out cookies
- 16. Transfer cookies to baking sheet
- 17. Chill in freezer - 5 min
- 18. Bake cookies until browned at edges - 15 min, 175°C
- 19. Cool on baking sheet - approx 2 min
- 20. Transfer cookies onto cooling rack and leave until completely cool
- 21. Add white chocolate to a clean small glass bowl
- 22. Melt in microwave - low heat
- 23. Dip half of each cookie into melted chocolate
- 24. Transfer cookies onto cooling rack until set
