This simple herb loaf is especially good with soups and stews, but is also great for making sandwiches. If you don't have fresh herbs, use dried.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 175°C
  2. Grease a clean loaf pan
  3. Add buttermilk, egg and olive oil to a clean medium bowl then set aside
  4. Add all purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda and fresh thyme to a clean large mixing bowl
  5. Whisk briefly until combined
  6. Transfer wet ingredients to dough
  7. Mix until dough forms
  8. Transfer dough to loaf pan
  9. Bake until golden brown - 40 min, 175°C
  10. Let cool onto cooling rack
