Lemon basil rice is a bright and flavourful side that pairs really well with most meat dishes. It is infused with flavour on a couple of fronts: - It incorporates garlic and ginger in the cooking water - The bright lemon juice is added at the end so that it doesn’t get hidden behind the other flavours. Because of its versatility, feel free to add more or less of any of the flavouring. Be sure to taste it once it is done to add more salt if needed.

    200g (about 1 cup)
  • Water icon

    240ml (1 cup)
  • Salt icon
    Salt
    about ¼ teaspoon (1g)
  • Ginger icon
    Ginger
    2 tsp (4g)
  • Garlic clove icon

  • Lemon juice icon

Step preview

  1. Add white rice to a clean saucepan
  2. Rinse with water until water runs clear
  3. Add water, salt, ginger and garlic clove to the rice
  4. Heat until just boiling and cover
  5. Cover tightly - 15 min
  6. Remove - 10 min
  7. Uncover then fluff with a fork
  8. Add lemon juice and dried basil to the rice
  9. Transfer rice to large serving bowl
