Lemon basil rice is a bright and flavourful side that pairs really well with most meat dishes. It is infused with flavour on a couple of fronts:

  • White rice icon
    White rice200 g
  • Water icon
    Water240 ml
  • Salt icon
    Salt¼ teaspoon
  • Ginger icon
    Ginger2 teaspoonssliced
  • Garlic clove icon
    Garlic clove3sliced
  • Lemon juice icon
    Lemon juice1 teaspoon
  • Dried basil icon
    Dried basil1 teaspoon
    Method

  • 1. Add white rice to a clean saucepan
  • 2. Rinse with water until water runs clear
  • 3. Add water, salt, ginger and garlic clove to the rice
  • 4. Heat until just boiling and cover
  • 5. Cover tightly and cook on low - 15 min
  • 6. Remove from heat and keep covered for 10 minutes
  • 7. Remove the sliced ginger and garlic. Then fluff with a fork
  • 8. Add lemon juice and dried basil to the rice
  • 9. Transfer rice to large serving bowl
