The perfect Irish brown soda bread

  • Whole wheat flour icon

    Method

  • 1. Prepare 2 clean loaf pans with parchment paper
  • 2. Add whole wheat flour, white flour, pin head oats, wheat germ, salt, mixed seeds, baking soda and buttermilk to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 3. Mix in slowly until well combined then set aside
  • 4. Pre-heat oven - 150°C / 300°F
  • 5. Divide the bread mixture into the 2 loaf pans
  • 6. Bake until browned and let cool - approx 1 hr, 150°C / 300°F
