This Thermomix Cheat's sourdough recipe is a quick alternative to classic sourdough bread, thanks to the addition of a little yeast. By retaining some of the dough each time you bake this bread, you'll soon have your own sourdough starter to work with!

Step preview

  1. Fit the TM5 bowl to TM5
  2. Add fresh yeast
  3. Add sugar
  4. Add water
  5. Add salt
  6. Heat - approx 2 min, 37°C, speed 2
  7. Add bread flour
  8. Add malt powder
  9. Add extra virgin olive oil
  10. Add sourdough starter
  11. Mix - approx 10 min, speed 6
  12. Knead - approx 2 min, dough
  13. Transfer content of TM5 bowl to work surface
  14. Wrap loosely with plastic wrap
  15. Let rest onto work surface until doubled - 2 hr
  16. Punch down
  17. Divide into halves with dough scraper
  18. Shape into rounds
  19. Line with parchment paper
  20. Pre-heat - 220°C
  21. Heat a clean pizza stone - 220°C
  22. Add water to the TM5 bowl
  23. Boil - approx 8 min, varoma, speed 2
  24. Transfer dough to varoma tray
  25. Steam - approx 10 min, varoma, speed 3
  26. Transfer dough to pizza stone
  27. Bake - 8 min, 220°C
  28. Let cool on round wire rack - 1 hr
  29. Serve
