It might seem a little daunting, but it's not as difficult as you might think to make baguettes at home.

    METHOD


  • 1. Add bread flour, salt and active dried yeast to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 2. Mix briefly until just blended
  • 3. Add water to the dough
  • 4. Mix until dough forms
  • 5. Knead on lightly-floured surface - 5 min
  • 6. Transfer dough to large mixing bowl
  • 7. Cover large mixing bowl with plastic wrap
  • 8. Let rise until doubled - 5 hr
  • 9. Turn out on lightly-floured surface
  • 10. Shape
  • 11. Roll
  • 12. Transfer content of large mixing bowl to baking sheet
  • 13. Cover with kitchen towel
  • 14. Let rise - 1 hr
  • 15. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  • 16. Prepare

  • 18. Bake - 25 min
  • 19. Let cool
