I found this old treasure when going through my mom's old collection: silver white cake, AKA my childhood birthday cake. The frosting compliments the sugar swirls within perfectly.

    METHOD


  • 1. Pre-heat oven - 175°C
  • 2. Prepare 2 clean round pans
  • 3. Add all purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salted butter, milk, vanilla extract and salt to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 4. Beat - 2 min, low speed
  • 5. Add egg to the batter
  • 6. Beat until smooth - 2 min, high speed
  • 7. Add salted butter to a clean small bowl
  • 8. Melt - low heat
  • 9. Add brown sugar to the small bowl
  • 10. Mix together until thick
  • 11. Swirl sugar mixture into batter gently
  • 12. Pour batter into 2 round pans evenly
  • 13. Bake until golden brown - 40 min, 175°C
  • 14. Add salted butter, light brown sugar and ground cinnamon to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 15. Cream together until smooth
  • 16. Add powdered sugar to the frosting
  • 17. Mix until combined - low speed
  • 18. Add half and half, vanilla extract and salt to a clean small bowl
  • 19. Mix cream into frosting
  • 20. Add powdered sugar to a clean small bowl
  • 21. Add sugar mixture to frosting gradually
  • 22. Assemble round pans
  • 23. Serve
