Gnocchi is much easier to make than you'd think. One taste of this homemade gnocchi and you'll never go back to shop-bought.

  • Nutmeg icon

    1 kg (about 5 ¾)

    150 g (about 1 ¼ cups)

    METHOD


  • 1. Add potato to a clean saucepan
  • 2. Cover with water
  • 3. Cover
  • 4. Boil
  • 5. Simmer until cooked through - 20 min
  • 6. Drain
  • 7. Peel
  • 8. Mash
  • 9. Transfer potatoes to large mixing bowl
  • 10. Add nutmeg to the dough
  • 11. Sift cake flour into the dough
  • 12. Season with salt & pepper
  • 13. Add egg to the dough
  • 14. Mix a clean work surface quickly until small clumps form
  • 15. Knead gently until smooth
  • 16. Transfer dough to work surface
  • 17. Divide into thirds with dough scraper
  • 18. Roll
  • 19. Cut
  • 20. Add water to a clean large saucepan
  • 21. Transfer dough balls to baking sheet
  • 22. Add salt to the large saucepan
  • 23. Boil
  • 24. Transfer dough balls to large saucepan
  • 25. Cook - approx 4 min
  • 26. Remove with slotted spoon
  • 27. Serve immediately
