Chef Benjamin Sukle makes this sweet-salty seed mix at his restaurant Birch in Providence, RI. After toasting the seeds until fragrant, he sprinkles powdered sugar over them, which gradually melts, coating the seeds and giving them an irresistible crunch and sweetness. We love them sprinkled on everything from salads to ice cream.

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Get a clean medium bowl
  3. Add seeds of anise seeds
  4. Add black sesame seeds
  5. Add poppy seeds
  6. Add sunflower seeds
  7. Add sesame seeds
  8. Add coriander seeds
  9. Add cumin seeds
  10. Mix together and set aside
  11. Get a clean small bowl
  12. Add powdered sugar then set aside
  13. Transfer seeds to frying pan
  14. Cook for 3min on medium heat
  15. Transfer sugar mixture to frying pan
  16. Cook on high heat until sugar has dissolved
  17. Spread seeds with baking sheet
  18. Season to taste
  19. Let cool completely
