Use red cabbage and onion skins to make these natural blue and orange-yellow dyes. Soak for 30 minutes for pale pastels and up to a few hours for darker colors.

    METHOD


  • 1. Add red cabbage, water and white vinegar to a clean large saucepan
  • 2. Boil - 30 min
  • 3. Strain with sieve and set aside
  • 4. Add onion, white vinegar and water to a clean large saucepan
  • 5. Boil - 30 min
  • 6. Strain with sieve and set aside
  • 7. Add egg to a clean stockpot
  • 8. Cover with water
  • 9. Heat until boiling
  • 10. Simmer - 12 min
  • 11. Rinse with sieve until cool
  • 12. Transfer eggs to large saucepan carefully
  • 13. Set aside in fridge - 30 min
  • 14. Remove stockpot
