  1. Get a clean small bowl
  2. Add barley malt syrup
  3. Add active dried yeast
  4. Add salt
  5. Add warm water
  6. Whisk together until combined then set aside
  7. Get a clean stand mixer bowl
  8. Add bread flour
  9. Make a well
  10. Transfer yeast mixture to dough
  11. Mix for 3min on low speed until combined
  12. Let rest for 5min
  13. Knead for 3min with dough hook until elastic
  14. Transfer dough to large mixing bowl
  15. Cover with plastic wrap
  16. Let rise for approx 1h
  17. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper
  18. Turn out dough on lightly-floured surface
  19. Form
  20. Transfer dough to baking sheet
  21. Brush with vegetable oil
  22. Cover with plastic wrap
  23. Let rise for approx 2h until doubled
  24. Pre-heat
  25. Get a clean stockpot
  26. Add baking soda
  27. Add salt
  28. Add barley malt syrup
  29. Add water
  30. Heat until boiling
  31. Boil dough in mixture
  32. Get a clean small bowl
  33. Add egg white
  34. Add water
  35. Beat until combined
  36. Brush until coated
  37. Sprinkle with poppy seeds
  38. Bake for 8min until golden brown
  39. Serve
