Step preview

  1. Pre-heat
  2. Roll out basic pie crust onto a cutting board
  3. Grease a pie dish
  4. Transfer pastry to pie dish
  5. Chill in fridge for approx 30min
  6. Pre-bake for approx 15min then set aside
  7. Get a clean baking sheet
  8. Add walnuts
  9. Bake for approx 5min until toasted
  10. Scatter nuts over pie dish then set aside
  11. Get a clean saucepan
  12. Add vanilla extract
  13. Add sea salt
  14. Add granulated sugar
  15. Add honey
  16. Add unsalted butter
  17. Heat until boiling
  18. Transfer caramel to medium bowl
  19. Let cool for approx 20min
  20. Get medium bowl
  21. Add heavy cream
  22. Add egg yolk
  23. Add egg
  24. Whisk until smooth
  25. Transfer content of medium bowl to pie dish
  26. Bake for approx 40min until light golden
  27. Let cool onto cooling rack
  28. Sprinkle with sea salt
  29. Slice
