Easy Fig Tarts and Pistachio Whipped Cream

This recipe is fairly straightforward - puff pastry, vanilla sugar, light muscovado sugar (you can use light brown sugar), and figs - no measuring whatsoever (unless you want to make your own puff pastry - like I did). If you don’t have any vanilla sugar on hand, I wouldn’t fret, simply use natural cane or granulated sugar, the tarts will taste just as great. The pistachio whipped cream that I served with this is fairly straight forward, as well - it’s just sweetened whipped cream with a small handful of crushed pistachio nuts folded in.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. Prepare a work surface
  4. Roll out puff pastry into a rectangle
  5. Cut into quarters
  6. Transfer pastry to baking sheet
  7. Sprinkle with vanilla sugar evenly
  8. Top with quartered figs
  9. Sprinkle with muscovado sugar lightly
  10. Bake for 15min until golden brown
  11. Get a clean small bowl
  12. Add whipping cream
  13. Add powdered sugar
  14. Whip until soft peaks form
  15. Fold crushed pistachios gently
  16. Serve
