I love this French toast on rainy fall days. Caramel is great in place of maple syrup, and you can substitute the apples for any fruit. I really enjoy it with pears, quince or bananas as well.

  2. Slice challah bread then set aside
  3. Get a clean small bowl
  4. Add sugar
  5. Mix in ground cardamom
  6. Mix in ground cinnamon
  7. Add egg
  8. Add vanilla extract
  9. Add heavy cream
  10. Whisk until combined
  11. Get a clean saucepan
  12. Add sugar
  13. Add lemon juice
  14. Add water
  15. Cook on medium heat until golden brown and turn off heat
  16. Add diced apple
  17. Mix in heavy cream then set aside
  18. Get a clean frying pan
  19. Add butter
  20. Melt on medium heat
  21. Dip bread into batter
  22. Add bread to frying pan
  23. Cook each side on medium heat until golden brown
  24. Drizzle syrup
  25. Serve
