Oven roasted tomatoes are so delicious that we don't buy canned tomatoes unless absolutely necessary. Aside from the taste, doing them ourselves is also much more economical.

    Method

  • 1. Pre-heat oven - 150°C / 300°F
  • 2. Add olive oil, tomato, olive oil, fresh basil leaves, garlic clove, kosher salt and black pepper to a clean ceramic baking dish
  • 3. Bake - 30 min, 150°C / 300°F
  • 4. Turn after 30 minutes and then return to oven
  • 5. Bake - 1 hr, 150°C / 300°F
  • 6. Let cool
  • 7. Transfer it to a food processor or small blender
  • 8. Chop slightly
  • 9. Transfer content of food processor bowl to large resealable plastic bag
