Homemade walnut raisin oatmeal is a fantastic alternative to boxed commercial cereal. But, many people think it is too time consuming for busy mornings. Not true, especially if you make it ahead of time. In our house, weekday breakfasts usually consist of warm oatmeal and fresh fruit. Do I stand over a stove every morning to make this happen? No Way! I will make a pot on Monday morning and the leftovers go in the fridge. For the next three days all I have to do is scoop out some in a bowl and warm it in the microwave. It is just as fast as boxed cereal and so much better. This recipe calls for "Apple Pie Spice", which we have also included on Drop. But, you can also substitute cinnamon.
