Lemon basil rice is a bright and flavourful side that pairs really well with most meat dishes. It is infused with flavour on a couple of fronts: - It incorporates garlic and ginger in the cooking water - The bright lemon juice is added at the end so that it doesn’t get hidden behind the other flavours. Because of its versatility, feel free to add more or less of any of the flavouring. Be sure to taste it once it is done to add more salt if needed.

Step preview

  1. Get a clean saucepan
  2. Add white rice
  3. Rinse with water until water runs clear
  4. Add water
  5. Add salt
  6. Add sliced ginger
  7. Add sliced garlic clove
  8. Heat until just boiling and cover
  9. Cover tightly for 15min
  10. Remove for 10min
  11. Uncover then fluff with a fork
  12. Add lemon juice
  13. Add dried basil
  14. Transfer rice to large serving bowl
