Step preview

  1. Pre-heat
  2. Line 2 springform pans with parchment paper
  3. Get a clean stand mixer bowl
  4. Add butter
  5. Add caster sugar
  6. Cream until light and fluffy
  7. Add egg one by one and continue mixing
  8. Scrape thoroughly and continue
  9. Mix in vanilla extract
  10. Get a clean medium bowl
  11. Add sifted all purpose flour
  12. Add sifted cocoa powder
  13. Whisk briefly until combined then set aside
  14. Get a clean glass measuring cup
  15. Add buttermilk
  16. Mix dry ingredients into batter bit by bit
  17. Mix milk mixture into batter
  18. Mix in food coloring
  19. Get a clean small bowl
  20. Add baking soda
  21. Add white wine vinegar
  22. Mix briefly until combined
  23. Stir mixture into batter
  24. Pour batter into 2 springform pans
  25. Bake for 20min until springy to touch
  26. Get a clean medium glass bowl
  27. Add egg white
  28. Add caster sugar
  29. Add vanilla extract
  30. Add cream of tartar
  31. Set in double boiler
  32. Whisk until sugar has dissolved and turn off heat
  33. Beat for 6min until glossy then set aside
  34. Get a clean small bowl
  35. Add icing sugar
  36. Add food coloring
  37. Add cold water bit by bit
  38. Stir until mixture comes together then set aside
  39. Transfer springform pan to cooling rack
  40. Let cool completely
  41. Assemble
  42. Drizzle liquid with content of 2 springform pans
